Rebecca Lindamood is the force behind the keyboard and camera on Foodie with Family. As a food blogger for nearly two decades, Rebecca was part of the first wave of people sharing recipes for free online!

Welcome to my Virtual Kitchen!
Expertise: Recipe Development and testing, food photography and writing since 2008. 3x cookbook author. I am a former professional restaurant cook, caterer, and cooking instructor.
Cuisine: Variety is the spice of life and I am a food fanatic! My recipes reflect my love of globally inspired food and my passion for making it accessible no matter where you live. You’ll find American, Caribbean, Cuban, French, German, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Vietnamese, and much more. All of it. Fancy, humble, simple, complicated, and everything in between. I love cooking from scratch and I love sharing recipes that work for our family.
Location: Western New York. (Go Bills!)
About Me: I am the creator of and face behind Foodie with Family as well as the author of three cookbooks:
- Not Your Mama’s Canning Book: Modern Canned Goods and What to Make with Them
- Ready, Set, Dough: Beginner Breads for All Occasions
- The Ultimate Guide to Vegetable Side Dishes
Everybody has to eat, so it may as well be as delicious as we can make it! I share my best tips as a former professional chef and mom-of-five to make dinner as easy and stress-free a process as possible, whether you’re a true beginner in the kitchen or a seasoned home cook or a chef.
Every single recipe here on Foodie with Family is tested on and eaten by my family and friends. I crave flavourful, well-made food no matter how wild our family’s schedule is, so I provide easy weeknight dishes you can pull together in minutes, as well as more complicated special occasion dishes, home canned goods, cocktails and mocktails, breads that take one hour from start to finish, homemade sourdough starter, and just about everything in between.
I also share recommendations for equipment that can help minimize or streamline your work in the kitchen, techniques and tips for foolproof results, and am always available to answer questions you have!
Features
I’ve been featured teaching mozzarella making at The Pioneer Woman’s ranch, in the Better Homes and Gardens Special Canning edition, on local tv (here and here) and more.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Dreamworks Animation, Land O’Lakes (hosting a Twitter party that trended globally), Kraft Foods, Homemadesimple.com, Captain Morgan Rum, the Pork Checkoff, Cabot Creamery Co-operative, Horizon Organic, Shenandoah Valley Organic, and many other brands.
Trivia
- I am the mother of five adult sons all born from October to January within eight years of each other. My eldest son is a barista and coffee roaster in France, my second born is a wildland firefighter in Florida, my third and fourth sons still live in Western New York working with a home improvement group, and my youngest son is a Joffrey Ballet Studio Company member in Chicago. While my guys may be all over the map, they grew up eating the recipes on this blog and still eat it when they come home for breaks or vacations.
- My husband and I live on a farm we purchased from an Amish family who was relocating. When we bought it, it didn’t have electricity or plumbing; in fact, it had a two-seater outhouse (and the seats were carpeted! Horror!) We did the work of retro-fitting the home with wiring and plumbing while living here with all five boys ages 10 and under!
- In addition to being food fanatics, my husband and I are crazy for animals. We have three well loved dogs, a behemoth cat, a guinea fowl, and a bunch of chickens.. Frijole -a 15 year old chiweenie- is the senior statesman, if statesman can be stretched to include angry elderly chihuahua mixes who still love cuddles on their own terms. Pfeffer is a sweet, derpy, willful dachshund with glorious Fabio-esque long hair. Tater is a wonderfully ridiculous, super affectionate corgi puppy who thinks he is a human baby and specializes in making us all laugh. And Uncle is our blessing from the Universal Cat Distribution System; a feral cat who adopted us, he is bigger than all but Tater and wields his power like a cat-nip scepter.
- I’m a voracious reader of classic literature. My siblings poke good natured fun at me asking if I’m aware authors can be alive and still be read. I always have a physical book or my kindle within reach.
- Slightly complicating my reading is my love of knitting. If I’m sitting and a book isn’t in my hands, there will be knitting needles in them and -in all likelihood- I’ll have an audiobook playing in my headphones.
- I’m a certified advanced Pilates instructor as well as being certified as a barre fitness instructor. I’m also a (very slow but persistent) runner and glory in long walks.
- If I wasn’t a blogger, I’d still be feeding people. It’s truly my passion in life. In fact, my license plate reads “IFEEDPPL”.
- While food blogging is my primary method of winning (and baking) my bread, I also work as a ballet and movement photographer specializing in quality classical ballet photography. Images have been used in a variety of local, national, and international print and online properties. You can view a limited ballet imagery portfolio here.
- I’m the eldest of a family of six kids and am eighteen years older than my youngest sibling! People used to think I was her mom.
- I’m a proud, card-carrying member of the Bills Mafia and a season ticket holder. You’ll find me, my husband, and our third and fourth sons tailgating at and attending every home game. Look for the two wild and crazy shirtless guys (my boys) in the nosebleed section. Yes, even at snow games!
- I originally started Foodie with Family with my beloved stepmother, Valerie. When she became ill with breast cancer, I carried on writing it on behalf of both of us! You can see her bio she originally wrote here.
- I grew up cooking alongside my mother, Cathy, in the commercial kitchens of the camps and retreat centers my father, Jim, managed, and went on to cook in various food service venues including a deli, a bistro, and a corporate chain restaurant that shall remain unnamed as well as catering. I credit my mother, Cathy, with igniting my passion for adventuring with my food.
- I’m a life-long travel nut with a serious case of wanderlust. I spent my senior year of high school abroad and travel wherever and whenever I can. I love traveling alone, with my husband, friends, or with my whole crew. At the same time, I sure do love being home!
