Prep Time 10 minutes

Equipment

  • waffle maker

Ingredients

  • 16 frozen roll dough rounds see notes
  • 1/2 cup salted butter melted
  • 1 cup cinnamon sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat your waffle maker to the highest setting. Spray lightly with non-stick cooking spray or brush lightly with oil.
  • Lift one thawed dough ball from the pan. Gently stretch it until it is about 4 to 5 inches in diameter.
  • Carefully lower the stretched dough onto the hot waffle maker. Closer the waffle maker and cook for 1 1/2 to 3 minutes, until the dough is crisp on the outside and dark golden brown to deep brown, as desired.
  • Use tongs to transfer the crisped dough to a bowl of melted butter and flip it over to coat. Lift and let the excess butter drip away before depositing the waffle into a bowl of cinnamon sugar and spooning some extra cinnamon sugar over the top.
  • Again, lift the churros waffle to allow extra cinnamon sugar to fall away. Transfer the churros waffles to a cooling rack set on top of a sheet pan.
  • You can serve piping hot, warm, or room temperature. These are best served within an hour of being made, but can be stored at room temperature for up to 2 days.

Notes

Lightly spray a rimmed baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and arrange 16 frozen roll dough balls with at least 3 inches of space between them. Lightly cover with plastic wrap and let thaw at room temperature for 3 to 5 hours, or until the dough is thawed and doubled in bulk.
