Pasta Bake loaded with meatballs, sauce, and scandalous amounts of melted cheese is exactly what you need tonight. Bonus: you don't need to pre-boil the pasta, so be ready to eat and be happy with very little work!

Ingredients

  • nonstick cooking spray
  • 3 cups water
  • 24 ounces pasta sauce
  • 1 cup part-skim ricotta cheese
  • 1 pound cellentani pasta or cavatappi, rotini, ziti, or elbow noodles
  • 1 pound frozen meatballs homemade or purchased
  • 2 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • fresh basil leaves

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Combine water, sauce, and ricotta cheese in a large mixing bowl until the mixture is even in colour. Stir in the uncooked noodles, frozen meatballs, and 1 cup of the shredded cheese.
  • Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Cover the pan tightly with foil, put on a rimmed baking sheet, and bake for 55 minutes.
  • Remove the foil, scatter the remaining 1 1/2 cups of cheese over the noodles and return the pan to the oven for 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and lightly browned at the edges.
Garnish with torn basil leaves, if desired.
